Youth Thriving Through Co-Design

3-hour Virtual Workshop

Upcoming Offerings

About the Workshop

In a world where low student engagement and achievement persist, even the most well-intentioned initiatives can fall short. Join the National Equity Project for a 3-hour virtual interactive session to help you collaboratively design systems where young people truly thrive.

This workshop introduces you to co-design, a powerful approach to being in a relationship and designing with young people, not just for them. By bringing students into authentic partnerships, you can cultivate essential creative collaboration that strengthens belonging, equity, and engagement throughout your school community.

True transformation happens when those who are most impacted by a system are able to reimagine and redesign it to serve their needs. At its core, co-design is an essential piece of creating new possibilities and outcomes for young people.

  • Gain Clarity on Co-Design: Develop a clear understanding of the foundations of co-design—what it is, what it isn't, and why it's essential for ensuring young people thrive.

  • Strengthen Relational Trust: Learn the relational and technical conditions needed for co-design and practice ways to invite students to bring their full selves into the learning environment.

  • Explore Practical Applications: Discover concrete entry points and facilitation moves for fostering authentic youth-adult partnerships in your school or district and walk away with actionable ideas and resources.

  • This workshop will be delivered in a live, 3-hour interactive learning session conducted online in Zoom. Attend the live session with facilitators and fellow participants and gain new knowledge and skills to bring back to your own context. Participants receive electronic versions of all resources and tools.

We are intensely focused on humanizing our virtual spaces. We focus on interactivity and connection (these workshops are not webinars), frequent screen and body breaks, and attending to learning, practice, and healing in community with people around the world.

  • This workshop is for K-12 leaders at any level—from principals and central office leaders to teacher leaders and PD directors—who are invested in youth development and committed to creating more just and equitable learning environments.

  • We provide an advance draft of our slide deck 24 hours before the session and enable live transcription and closed caption during the live Zoom session. Our sessions are recorded (absent any technical difficulties) and can be accessed for up to 30 days after the course concludes.

  • Because our trainings include attention to building a learning community and interaction with other folks in small groups, we encourage full participation for the duration of the training. We hope participants can fully engage during sessions, but support participants to attend to their own unique needs.

  • Registration by credit card is our preferred method. We are a small (but mighty) organization and processing and collecting check payments for our events has a high administrative impact.
